SKEP_historyThe SKEP Network is a partnership of government ministries, environmental protection agencies, and research councils responsible for funding environmental research. The aims of the Network are to facilitate the improvement of evidence-based approaches to policy development, and in particularly to support the better regulation agenda

The first phase of the Network was between June 2005 and May 2009. During this period SKEP (‘Scientific Knowledge for Environmental Protection’) was a European Research Network (ERA-Net) funded through the 6th Framework Programme.

From June 2009 onwards, the SKEP Network has functioned as a subscription-based initiative under a new legal agreement between partner orgnaisations.
